Lauderdale County E-911 and LEMA Relocate Due to Building Renovations
The Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors has approved the purchase of a portable building to temporarily house Lauderdale County E-911 dispatch services. This relocation is a direct response to multiple leaks reported in the roof of their original building, which also houses the Lauderdale Emergency Management Agency (LEMA). According to Josh Todd with the Lauderdale Board of Supervisors, the roof flooding necessitated the relocation of several entities within the building. The plan involves replacing the roof, repairing water damage, and renovating the interior of the original facility. LEMA has moved to the Meridian Public Safety Training Facility, the county fire service to the old central garage, and the permit office to the old Lauderdale County Courthouse, while E-911 will operate from the portable building on-site.
