Congressman Troy Carter Attends Big Labor Picnic, Emphasizes Support for Workers
Congressman Troy A. Carter, a New Orleans Democrat, attended the annual Big Labor picnic in New Orleans. The event, which is sponsored by the Greater New Orleans AFL-CIO, drew hundreds of union workers and their families, as well as numerous elected officials from federal, state, and local levels. Congressman Carter, who is seeking reelection, highlighted the significance of Labor Day beyond just a holiday, emphasizing it as a time to honor the men and women of labor who have been instrumental in building and moving the country forward. Other notable attendees included Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and New Orleans Mayor Helena Moreno, both of whom also expressed gratitude and support for the labor community. The picnic is often seen as the unofficial kickoff to the fall campaign season, attracting politicians whether they are on the ballot or not.
