Mid-South Faces Heat Before Weekend Rain
The Mid-South is experiencing unseasonably warm and dry conditions, with temperatures reaching the upper 80s to low 90s °F (31-33 °C) on Thursday and Friday. A Code Orange air quality alert is in effect for the Memphis metro area due to stagnant air caused by high pressure, posing risks for individuals with heart or respiratory conditions. Clouds will begin to build late Friday night as tropical moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Isaias moves into the region. This system is expected to bring heavy rain and gusty winds on Saturday, particularly in areas near and east of the Tennessee River. Temperatures will drop into the 60s °F (15-20 °C) as rain moves in, with conditions clearing by Sunday afternoon.
