Memphis Faces Triple-Digit Heat Index Through Weekend
Memphis is set to experience a prolonged period of high temperatures and elevated heat index values over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Memphis. From Friday, September 11, through Monday, September 14, daytime highs are expected to reach the mid-90s °F (approximately 35 °C), with heat index values climbing as high as 105 °F (40.5 °C). The region is also under an extreme heat warning, with heat index values potentially reaching up to 117 °F (47.2 °C) on Tuesday. While mostly sunny conditions will dominate, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms, particularly on Friday and Saturday afternoons. Nighttime lows will provide some relief, dropping into the lower to mid-70s °F (21-24 °C).
