Losing Bidder Sues Tennessee Over I-24 Toll Lane Project Records
24 Choice Lane Partners, a private consortium that was a losing bidder for the multi-billion-dollar I-24 toll lane project between Nashville and Murfreesboro, has filed a lawsuit in Davidson County Chancery Court. The consortium alleges that Tennessee state officials violated the Tennessee Public Records Act by denying their request for records related to the winning bidder, DriveTN. According to the lawsuit, state officials refused to provide a copy of the winning contract, financing details, and internal communications concerning the contract awarding process. The I-24 toll lanes are slated to be operated by the private contractor, who will collect tolls and pay a portion of the revenues to the state as 'concessions.' DriveTN's winning bid included a promise of $24.8 billion in concessions over 50 years, significantly more than other bidders.
