Northwest ISD's New Davis High School Unveils Diamondbacks Mascot for 2027 Opening
Northwest ISD's fourth high school, Davis High School, currently under construction in Fort Worth, Texas, has officially unveiled its mascot: the Diamondbacks. The selection was made through a student vote involving over 1,000 students from Tidwell and Worthington middle schools, with the Diamondbacks receiving 83.5% of the votes over the Aviators. The new campus, named after longtime Northwest ISD trustee and dairy farmer J. Fred Davis Jr., is scheduled to open in August 2027. Students, including Jaskirat Singh and Emily Mauk, participated in a symbolic beam signing ceremony, marking their future connection to the school. The school will initially open with freshmen and sophomores, adding a grade level each subsequent year, and is designed to accommodate 3,200 students. The construction is part of Northwest ISD’s $2 billion 2023 bond package, with the building expected to be enclosed by early 2027.
