Germany Leads Turkish Exports, China Tops Imports in H1 2026, Highlighting Trade Imbalance
In the first half of 2026, Germany emerged as the leading destination for Turkish exports, amounting to $11.2 billion, while China dominated Turkish imports with $26.3 billion, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK). The United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, and France were also significant export partners, collectively accounting for 29.9% of Turkey's total exports, which totaled approximately $136.2 billion. On the import side, China, Russia, Germany, the United States, and Switzerland made up 41.1% of Turkey's imports, which were valued at approximately $189.1 billion. This trade activity resulted in a trade deficit of about $53 billion for Turkey in the first half of the year, with exports covering 72% of imports.
