NHS Business Services Authority Fails to Pay Pensioner, Declares Her Deceased
A former NHS worker, who retired to South Africa in 2015, has been declared deceased by the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA), leading to the cessation of her pension payments since May. This is the second time such an error has occurred; in December of the previous year, her pension was stopped for four months after her account details were changed and payments were sent to the wrong person. The individual has faced severe financial distress, unable to afford basic necessities like dental care and international calls to resolve the issue. Despite repeated attempts to contact NHSBSA via phone and email, she received only auto-generated responses. She even traveled to the UK, borrowing money from a friend, to address the problem in person, but was met with further delays and unfulfilled promises of callbacks.
