Vanderbilt University to Host 10th North American Syriac Symposium in 2027
Vanderbilt University is set to host the 10th North American Syriac Symposium from June 27 to July 1, 2027. This symposium, held every four years since 1991, serves as a significant gathering for scholars and students to exchange and discuss a wide array of topics related to the Syriac language, literature, and cultural history. The scope of the symposium extends chronologically from the early centuries CE to the present day and geographically from the Middle East to South India, China, and the global diaspora. The theme for the tenth symposium is 'The teaching and study of Syriac,' encouraging proposals on related themes such as the history of Syriac pedagogy, historiography of Syriac Christianity, and the history of Syriac studies.
