Northwest Review Relaunches as Digital Magazine at University of Oregon
The Northwest Review, a literary magazine with a history dating back to 1957, has been relaunched as a digital publication at the University of Oregon. This marks the latest revival for the journal, which had previously ceased operations in 2011 and again in 2023 after a brief resurgence in Portland. Brian Trapp, a writer, editor, and educator at the University of Oregon, is leading this new iteration alongside Jason Brown. The magazine's return is supported by an internal grant for innovative undergraduate education, providing nearly $18,000 in startup funds. The digital format aims to reduce costs and integrate the magazine into the university's educational mission, involving undergraduate and MFA students in the editorial process. The first digital issue was released on June 1, with submissions for the next biannual issue closing on November 1.
