Qesher Founders Dóra Korányi and Sebastián Mizrahi Discuss New Book Highlighting Diverse Jewish Voices
Dóra Korányi, a Hungarian psychologist, and Sebastián Mizrahi, raised in Venezuela with Syrian-Jewish and Russian-Jewish ancestry, have launched a new book titled 'Jewish Voices from Around the World: Tiles of a Mosaic' (Vallentine Mitchell, Nov.). This publication stems from their online platform, Qesher, which means 'connection' in Hebrew, founded in 2020. The platform began with a series of virtual lectures during the pandemic, aiming to make the history and traditions of various Jewish communities accessible online. The book features 18 essays from diverse Jewish communities, including those from Uganda, Cuba, India, Libya, and Curaçao. Korányi and Mizrahi sought contributors with deep roots in their respective places, encouraging them to include family stories to showcase the variety of Jewish communities, languages, and histories.
