LaMelo Ball's Partner, Ana Montana, Faces Felony Charges in North Carolina for Alleged Controlled Substance Fraud
Analicia Chaves, publicly known as Ana Montana and partner of Minnesota Timberwolves star LaMelo Ball, is facing felony charges in North Carolina. Chaves was booked into the Mecklenburg County jail on September 28, charged with two felony counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or forgery and two misdemeanor counts of simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance. An arrest warrant alleges that Chaves obtained alprazolam, the generic form of Xanax, from a Walgreens using a prescription linked to a doctor whose DEA registration and NPI number were allegedly stolen or fraudulently obtained. However, Chaves' attorney has stated that the allegations involve a prescription actually written for Chaves by a doctor, and that she used this prescription to obtain the prescribed medication. The attorney clarified that the charges allege the doctor used a fraudulent DEA registration and NPI number, not that Chaves herself committed fraud in obtaining the prescription.
