Nor’easter Brings Heavy Rain, Winds to Northeast Coast

A powerful nor’easter is impacting the Northeast coast this weekend, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and significant coastal flooding. Waves as high as 19 feet have already been recorded along North Carolina’s Outer Banks, with waves up to 12 feet expected from the Outer Banks to New Jersey through Saturday and along the New England coast through Sunday. Coastal flood alerts are in effect from the Outer Banks to Maine, with flood inundation reaching up to 3 feet above normal levels in some areas. The storm is expected to peak in strength on Saturday before weakening slightly on Sunday as it stalls over New Jersey. Rainfall totals of 4–6 inches are forecast for Boston, Rhode Island, coastal New Jersey, and Long Island, while widespread totals of 2–4 inches are expected from Delaware to Maine.
