Nevada Congressional Delegation Secures $6.1 Million for Harry Reid Airport Fire Station Upgrades
U.S. Representative Steven Horsford of Las Vegas announced that $850,000 in federal funding has been secured for a phased construction project at Harry Reid International Airport. This funding is specifically allocated for improving the airport’s Airfield Rescue and Fire Fighting station, which was originally built in 1982. The goal is to modernize the facility and bring it up to current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards. The project has also received additional funds secured by Nevada Congresswoman Susie Lee and Senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen, bringing the total funding for the upgrades to approximately $6.1 million. Clark County Fire Chief Billy Samuels highlighted that these improvements will enhance the alert system, improve response times, and create a more calming environment for crews, ultimately benefiting their health and efficiency. The upgrades are deemed essential to keep pace with technological advancements and the growing demands on airport operations.
