Missouri State Fair Sale of Champions Raises Over $271,500 for Youth in Agriculture
The annual Sale of Champions at the Missouri State Fair successfully raised more than $271,500 for youth involved in agriculture. The event, held in Sedalia, Missouri, showcased various grand and reserve champion livestock and poultry exhibited by young agriculturalists. For instance, Reagan Rodgers of Savannah exhibited the Grand Champion Steer, which sold for $42,500 to the Edward Jones Foundation, Specialty Risk Insurance, and BTC Bank, among other supporters. Harper Heimer of Taylor exhibited the Grand Champion Barrow, selling for $62,500 to Bayer Crop Science, Specialty Risk Insurance, BTC Bank, and Congressman Jason Smith. Other champions included Marlee Massey's Grand Champion Market Lamb, Elsie Barton's Grand Champion Meat Goat, Judd Lawson's Grand Champion Pen of Chickens, and Kaela Britton's Grand Champion Pen of Rabbits. Reserve champions also contributed significantly to the total funds raised, with buyers including various businesses, universities, and local supporters.
