Massive Storms and Heat Dome Threaten Labor Day Festivities Across the U.S.
A complex weather pattern is set to impact the United States over the Labor Day weekend, with significant regional variations. The Plains and Southeast will experience a sweltering heat wave, with temperatures reaching the triple digits in the southern Plains and 90s in the central and northern Plains. High humidity in the Southeast could push heat indices into the triple digits. Meanwhile, parts of the East and Southeast will face torrential rains as a storm system moves through the Ohio Valley and mid-Atlantic on Saturday, tracking toward the Southeast. Cooler-than-average conditions are expected in the Pacific Northwest and northern and central California, with highs in Seattle and San Francisco in the 70s, and some areas dipping into the upper 60s. Scattered showers are also forecast for the northern Rockies and Pacific Northwest, while monsoonal moisture may affect the Four Corners region intermittently.
