South Carolina Police Officer Killed, Another Wounded in Park Shooting; Suspect Dead
A police officer was killed and another wounded in a shooting incident at a park in Columbia, South Carolina. The suspect was also killed. The incident began when authorities received a call about a domestic dispute. Officer Christopher DeLong responded to a report from a woman stating that a man, against whom she had a restraining order, was destroying property at her home. After the suspect left the residence, Officer DeLong spotted a vehicle matching the description provided by the woman and radioed in a suspicious person report. Officer David Dymock arrived as backup. Shortly after, Dymock reported that both officers had been hit and the suspect was down. The suspect was identified as 33-year-old Adam Tyler Dowdy, who had a history of arrests in multiple states for charges including disorderly conduct, contempt of court, public intoxication, possession of a controlled substance, and probation violations.
