Minnesota Secures 57-Acre Site in Lakeville for $1 Billion Horticulture World's Fair in 2031
Minnesota has selected Lakeville as the host city for Expo 2031, a six-month international horticulture exhibition. Organizers have finalized a purchase agreement for nearly 57 acres of land near Interstate 35 and County Road 70. This event, themed 'Human/Nature,' is projected to attract between 4 million and 6 million visitors from May to October 2031. It will be the first A1 International Horticultural Exhibition held in the United States. The current plans for the site include a 200-room hotel, a 1,300-space parking structure, an Expo Hall, a community welcome center, a media studio, and a 1,500-person amphitheater. Additionally, a 'secret garden' and a USA Pavilion with 'Bellagio-style' fountains are proposed.
