City of Henderson Implements Mandatory Water Conservation Due to Critically Low Lake Levels
The City of Henderson, North Carolina, has enacted mandatory water conservation measures for all its water customers. This decision comes in response to critically low water levels in Kerr Lake, which serves as the primary water source for both the city and the surrounding county. Residents, businesses, and other customers are now required to limit their water usage and avoid nonessential consumption. Specific restrictions include refraining from watering lawns and gardens, washing vehicles, and filling swimming pools. The city is also encouraging additional conservation efforts such as taking shorter showers, promptly repairing leaks, and operating dishwashers and washing machines only when full. These mandatory measures will remain in effect until water levels in Kerr Lake improve sufficiently for the restrictions to be lifted.
