San Antonio Fire Department Responds to Major Northwest Side House Fire, One Injured
The San Antonio Fire Department (SAFD) responded to a significant structure fire on the city's Northwest Side near Zachry and Palm Drive. The fire, reported around 5:45 p.m. on a Monday, heavily impacted one home and spread to a neighboring residence. Battalion Chief Doug Reed stated that upon arrival, crews found heavy fire in the initial home, which was impinging on a second. The original structure is expected to be a total loss due to significant damage, with the secondary home also sustaining considerable damage. Two occupants were present in the primary home before firefighters arrived and managed to self-extricate. One elderly female was transported for treatment of non-life-threatening burns, though any burns are considered potentially critical. Firefighters confirmed no one was inside either home upon their search, as residents had informed them that all people and pets were out.
