Wilmington Police Investigate Second Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Over Labor Day Weekend
Wilmington Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that resulted in the death of a 58-year-old man. Officers responded to the 1200 block of S. 17th Street around 2:46 a.m. on Sunday after receiving reports of a pedestrian collision. A preliminary investigation indicates that a truck struck the victim while he was in the roadway, and the vehicle subsequently fled the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at the location, and his identity has not yet been released by the police. This incident marks the second deadly pedestrian collision in Wilmington during the Labor Day holiday weekend. Authorities have not released any descriptions of the suspect or the vehicle involved at this time.
