Woman Fatally Struck by Train Near North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh
A woman was hit and killed by a passenger train on Friday night near Beryl Road and Powell Street in Raleigh, North Carolina. Raleigh police responded to the incident around 8:45 p.m. According to preliminary investigations, the woman was attempting to cross the train tracks when she was struck. The train involved was an Amtrak service traveling from Charlotte to Raleigh. Amtrak confirmed that there were 69 people on board the train at the time of the accident, and none of them sustained injuries. Emergency services closed the road for several hours as police conducted their investigation into the fatal incident.
