North Carolina DEQ Announces Resilience Grants to Combat Environmental Challenges
The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has announced $300,000 in resilience grants to support environmental stewardship and community engagement projects across the state. The grants, part of the Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Partnership (APNEP), aim to address the challenges posed by climate change, such as increased flooding and droughts. The funding will support eight projects, including initiatives to promote water quality, native landscapes, and educational programs. DEQ Secretary Reid Wilson emphasized the importance of maintaining healthy water bodies and estuaries to strengthen community resilience against future environmental hazards.
