Maple Hill Residents Express Concern Over Potential Post Office Closure, Seek Representative Rouzer's Assistance
Residents of Maple Hill, North Carolina, are facing the potential closure of their local post office, effective September 25th, according to letters received from the U.S. Postal Service. If the closure proceeds, all postal services currently available in Maple Hill would be relocated to the Burgaw Post Office, which is approximately 17 miles away. This proposed change has generated significant concern among community members, particularly seniors and individuals with lower incomes, who fear the increased travel distance will pose a major inconvenience and hardship. Pender County Commissioner Jimmy Tate has voiced his devastation over the potential closure, emphasizing the difficulties it would create for vulnerable populations.
