Olean and Salamanca Fire Departments Welcome Seven New Firefighter Recruits After Graduation Ceremony
Seven new firefighter recruits recently graduated from a 14-week training program, marking the largest class in many years for the City of Olean Fire Department and the Salamanca Fire Department. Six of the graduates will join the Olean Fire Department, while one will join the Salamanca Fire Department. The graduation ceremony, held at Jamestown Community College’s Cutco Theater, celebrated the recruits' proficiency in entry-level firefighting skills, teamwork, and communication. Olean Mayor Amy B. Sherburne commended the recruits for their commitment to community service, emphasizing their dedication to assisting others during emergencies. Olean Fire Chief Eric Maurouard highlighted the significant progress made by the recruits in building essential skills and fostering camaraderie throughout the intensive training period.
