Tropical Storm Dolly Could Form in the Atlantic This Week
The Atlantic hurricane season is entering its most active phase, and a tropical disturbance in the eastern Atlantic, currently designated as Invest 96L, may develop into Tropical Storm Dolly later this week. The system is located south of the Cabo Verde Islands and is moving west-northwest, over 2,000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. While environmental conditions, including dry air and wind shear enhanced by El Niño, may hinder its development, some forecasts suggest it could strengthen into a tropical storm or even a hurricane as it moves into the subtropical Atlantic over the next 7–10 days. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is closely monitoring the system, which could approach the Leeward Islands by Sunday. However, its long-term trajectory and intensity remain uncertain.
