Investigation Launched into Police Shooting of Brownfield Man Amid Wife's Disputed Claims
An investigation is underway following the shooting of Aric Junkins, 40, of Brownfield, by an Oxford County deputy. The incident occurred on Monday after police responded to a reported 'domestic dispute' on Porter Road. According to an Oxford County Sheriff’s Office release, Junkins was shot twice in the hands after allegedly leveling a gun at officers. However, Junkins' wife has disputed this account, stating on a community Facebook page that her husband was suicidal and holding a BB gun, not a real firearm, and did not threaten her. She also suggested that his diabetic condition and low blood sugar might have played a role, and claimed police did not ask him to drop the BB gun before firing. Junkins was transported to a Massachusetts hospital for his injuries and faces charges including criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and domestic reckless conduct. The deputy involved, Andre Chasse, has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard protocol.
