Super El Niño Predicted to Bring Severe Winter Weather Across U.S.
The National Weather Service and other weather prediction offices have released maps indicating that the United States may face extreme weather in the coming months due to a potential 'Super El Niño' event. El Niño, characterized by a significant warming of Pacific Ocean waters near the equator, is expected to disrupt weather patterns across the country. According to Open Snow, states like California, Oregon, Nevada, and Colorado are likely to experience heavier snowfall than usual, while the northern U.S. and Canada may see a decrease in severe weather. The NOAA predicts reversed weather trends, with warmer winters in northern states and colder conditions in southern states. This El Niño event is anticipated to be the most severe in decades, with treacherous thunderstorms, high winds, and heavy snow expected in several regions.
