Savannah City Council Approves Funding for Waterfront Redevelopment Phase 1
Savannah's waterfront is slated for a significant, multi-year redevelopment project, with the City Council having approved funding for Phase 1. This initial phase will focus on improving the entrances to the waterfront, including new ironwork, enhanced access lighting, and upgraded refuse enclosures. The broader redevelopment plan, managed by the Savannah's Waterfront Community Improvement District, aims to upgrade and enhance the area from Plant Riverside to the Savannah Riverfront Marriott and Factor’s Walk. Future phases will involve improvements to landscaping, hardscapes, sidewalks along River Street, and overall lighting, signage, and facades to beautify and increase the safety and appeal of the waterfront for both visitors and residents.
