Man Accused of Catfishing Victim Using AI and Voice-Changing Technology in Georgia
Caleb Mills, 25, from South Carolina, has been accused of creating a fake online persona named 'Hailey Morello' to defraud victims. Mills allegedly used stolen photos of a real Florida sheriff's deputy, multiple phone numbers, artificial intelligence, and voice-changing technology to establish online relationships. One victim in Georgia reportedly believed he was engaged to 'Hailey' for months, exchanging vehicles with Mills and providing him with an undisclosed amount of money. The alleged scheme was uncovered after Mills, posing as 'Hailey,' filed a harassment complaint with police when the victim's relatives began contacting him. Mills was subsequently arrested on charges including identity fraud, impersonating a public officer, giving a false name to law enforcement, and making false statements. Officials state that Mills has been released on bond and has continued to engage in fraudulent acts, with further charges potentially pending.
