Orlando Family's Plan to Scare Thief Ends in Fatal Shooting; Four Arrested
A plan by an Orlando family to scare off a man accused of stealing a quad bike resulted in the fatal shooting of 33-year-old Daryl Willis Jr. The incident occurred on May 20 at Mary Martinez's home in the Rosemont North neighborhood. Martinez, her daughters Jennifer Bennett and Jessica Bennett, Jennifer's fiancé Joseph Petrus, and Jessica's girlfriend Susan Holloway were all present. According to police, Martinez lured Willis to her home under the pretense of paying him for the return of the quad bike. When Willis arrived, Petrus allegedly blocked his vehicle and shot him as he attempted to drive away. Willis was pronounced dead at a hospital. Joseph Petrus was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with first-degree murder. Jennifer Bennett, Jessica Bennett, and Susan Holloway were arrested on charges including evidence tampering, conspiracy to commit robbery with a firearm, and attempted robbery with a firearm.
