Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Expands AWARE Real-Time Crime Alert System to All Daycare Facilities
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) is initiating a program to register all 188 daycare facilities within its jurisdiction for the AWARE (Activity and Warning Awareness Reporting Engine) real-time crime alert system. Starting the week of August 31st, PBSO will visit these facilities, which collectively care for over 24,000 children, to facilitate their enrollment. The AWARE system, previously utilized by private and charter schools in Palm Beach County for several years, delivers real-time alerts via text message and email. These alerts notify registered users about ongoing violent crimes occurring within a half-mile radius of their location. PBSO has stated that this system has proven to be an effective tool in enhancing safety and encourages interested daycare facilities to register through their dedicated website.
