Lubbock Health Inspections Temporarily Shut Down Steakhouse Due to Numerous Violations
A steakhouse and sushi bar in Lubbock, Texas, was temporarily closed following a health inspection that uncovered nearly 60 violations. The Kobe Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar was found to have multiple food safety issues, including improper storage temperatures, lack of sanitation, and inadequate food safety knowledge among staff. The inspection revealed that items in the walk-in cooler were stored above the safe temperature of 41°F, with the cooler itself at 55°F. Additionally, raw meats were improperly stored above ready-to-eat foods, and utensils were not sanitized after washing. The facility was closed for 24 hours to address these violations and was allowed to reopen after a re-inspection confirmed compliance.
