Illinois State Museum to Host Hispanic Heritage Month Events in Springfield
The Illinois State Museum, in collaboration with Springfield state historic sites and Hispanic Women of Springfield, is organizing a series of events to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. These programs, running from September 24 through November 1, will take place in Springfield, Illinois. The initiative aims to explore immigration stories, cultural traditions, food, and community celebrations within the Hispanic and Latine communities. Events include "Hecho en Illinois" on September 24, where participants from the Mi Casa es Tu Casa Beardstown Project will share their experiences in the state. The Festival de la Herencia Hispana, a free community event featuring Latine culture, food, and traditions, is scheduled for October 3. Additionally, a Loteriá and Taco Nite will be held on October 8 at the Dana-Thomas House State Historic Site.
