Isaias Could Spawn Tornadoes Across the Southeast
Hurricane Isaias could bring a significant tornado and waterspout threat as it moves from the Gulf Coast across the Southeast this weekend. Severe thunderstorms embedded within the hurricane’s rain bands could produce tornadoes hundreds of miles from the storm’s center, particularly east and southeast of the eye. The greatest risk Friday into Saturday stretches from the Alabama, Florida and Mississippi Panhandles into Alabama and southwestern Georgia. By Sunday, the threat could extend across Georgia, Tennessee, the Carolinas, Virginia and Kentucky. Some storms may also produce waterspouts along Gulf and southern Atlantic coasts.
