Texas Clinic Owner Convicted in $26 Million TRICARE Fraud Scheme

Kevin D. Curry, a 64-year-old owner of mental health clinics in Texas and Florida, has been found guilty by a federal jury in Fort Worth, Texas, for orchestrating a $26 million scheme to defraud TRICARE, the health care program for active-duty service members, retirees, and their families. Curry was convicted on nine counts, including three counts of health care fraud, three counts of offering and paying illegal health care kickbacks, and three counts of engaging in monetary transactions in criminally derived property. Prosecutors presented evidence showing that Curry billed TRICARE for transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy that was either medically unnecessary or never provided. He allegedly paid over $5.5 million in illegal kickbacks to persuade service members and their families to undergo TMS therapy they did not qualify for. This airport has previously served as a point of entry for alleged cartel members being brought to the U.S. for trial.
