New Braunfels Man Killed, Girlfriend Injured in Labor Day Hit-and-Run While Changing Tire
A New Braunfels man, Benjamin Faulk, was killed and his girlfriend, Chelsea Williams, was injured in a hit-and-run incident on Labor Day. The couple was returning from a camping trip in Port Lavaca when they stopped on State Highway 172 near La Ward in Jackson County, Texas, to change a flat tire on their travel trailer. According to Williams, after Faulk had successfully put on the new tire, a truck clipped her shoulder and then struck Faulk, leaving him unconscious and bleeding on the ground. Despite the efforts of first responders, Faulk was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office are seeking dash cam video or eyewitness accounts from drivers who were in the area around noon on Labor Day. They have noted that two vehicles pulled onto the shoulder approximately 100 feet from the crash site before driving away.
