Georgia's 13th District Special Election Heads to Runoff Between Two Democrats
In Georgia's 13th District, a special election to replace the late Rep. David Scott has resulted in a runoff between two Democrats, Marcye Scott and Everton Blair Jr. Marcye Scott, the daughter of the late congressman, and Blair, a former Gwinnett County School Board Chairman, received 46.8% and 36.7% of the vote, respectively. The election was triggered by David Scott's passing shortly before the Democratic primary. The runoff, scheduled for August 25, will determine who fills the seat for a brief period before the next full term begins in January. The district, historically Democratic, is expected to remain under Democratic control.
