Indiana University President Pamela Whitten Receives $250,000 Bonus for Leadership
Indiana University President Pamela Whitten has been awarded a $250,000 bonus by the Board of Trustees, marking the maximum bonus allowable under her contract. The decision was made unanimously by the compensation committee during a virtual meeting. President Whitten, who has been earning an annual salary of $1 million since a raise in February, also receives a regular 25 percent annual bonus. Trustee Sage Steele expressed gratitude for Whitten's leadership, highlighting her role in transforming the university into a more innovative and student-centered institution since she assumed the presidency in July 2021. The bonus reflects the board's appreciation of her performance over the past year, which has been smoother compared to previous years marked by student protests and other challenges.
