Flash Flooding and Severe Storms Threaten NYC Area
A slow-moving low-pressure system is expected to bring multiple rounds of heavy showers and thunderstorms to the New York City metro area, northeast New Jersey, southwest Connecticut, and the lower Hudson Valley from today through Wednesday. The National Weather Service (NWS) has warned of scattered to numerous instances of flash flooding in urban areas, poor drainage zones, low-lying regions, and along quick-responding streams. Additionally, there is a 5% probability of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, with damaging wind gusts of 60-70 mph possible, particularly in northeast New Jersey and New York City.
