Emu Escapes New York Petting Zoo, Prompting Police Drone-Assisted Capture
An emu briefly escaped from a petting zoo in New York, leading to an unusual pursuit and capture by the Town of Ramapo Police Department. The incident occurred over the weekend, with officers utilizing a drone to track the "feathered fugitive" from above. A ground team then safely corralled the bird near what appeared to be a school. The emu was successfully returned to the petting zoo without any injuries. The police department shared details and photos of the capture on its Facebook page, humorously noting, "We don’t know why the chicken crossed the road, but the emu crossed the road because Sgt. Anton didn’t give it an option."
