Severe Storms and Heavy Rain Threaten Western and Central New York
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for parts of western and north-central New York, warning of strong to severe thunderstorms, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall. The affected areas include Buffalo, Rochester, the Finger Lakes, and regions along Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, and the St. Lawrence River. The greatest risk for severe weather is expected Monday evening into the overnight hours, with localized flooding possible through midweek. Slow-moving thunderstorms could lead to excessive rainfall, causing flash flooding in low-lying areas, ponding on roads, and rapid rises in small streams and creeks. This weather pattern is expected to persist through Wednesday, with the potential for significant impacts in the region.
