Severe Storm Threat Looms Over I-95 Corridor, Northeast, and Mid-Atlantic
A series of disturbances along the northern edge of a heat dome over the Central Mississippi Valley is expected to trigger severe storms across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Great Lakes regions. The storms, which began on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, are forecasted to bring damaging winds, large hail, and the potential for isolated tornadoes. The FOX Forecast Center has issued a Level 2 out of 5 severe storm threat for four consecutive days in parts of the region, marking a rare weather event. Urban areas, including Philadelphia and New York City, are at risk of flash flooding due to heavy rainfall. The storm system is expected to evolve into a complex that will move southeast toward the Mid-Atlantic coast, intensifying the threat of severe weather.
