CPS Targets Assets of Jailed Funeral Director Robert Bush for Victim Compensation
Robert Bush, a former funeral director, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for committing 67 offenses, including denying proper burials and providing families with the ashes of strangers. Bush, who operated Legacy Independent Funeral Directors in Hull, was found guilty of stealing up to £12,000 from charities and selling fraudulent funeral plans. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is now focusing on freezing Bush's bank accounts and assets to recover funds for compensating his victims. Laura Tams KC, deputy chief crown prosecutor at the CPS, emphasized the importance of confiscating the proceeds of Bush's crimes to aid the affected families. The sentencing judge, Mr. Justice Hilliard, noted that Bush had significantly benefited from his crimes and lived a lavish lifestyle.
