Stockton City Council Candidate Desiree Lynch Arrested on Election Fraud Charges
Desiree Lynch, a candidate for the Stockton City Council, has been arrested and is facing five felony charges related to election fraud. Prosecutors allege that Lynch falsified her residency on voter registration and candidate paperwork. The charges include three counts of perjury, one count of causing or allowing a false voter registration, and one count of filing a false nomination or declaration of candidacy. The San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office initiated a six-week public corruption investigation after receiving a referral from the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office following the June primary election. Lynch is accused of using two addresses within District 5, Harry’s Cocktail Lounge and Doyle Garden Apartments, to claim residency, while investigators assert she actually resides in Lodi and north Stockton, including an area within Stockton City Council District 1. Lynch was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on $100,000 bail and subsequently released.
