Severe Storms Set to Sweep From Plains to East Coast
Severe thunderstorms and heavy downpours are expected to sweep from the Plains toward the East Coast this week, bringing damaging winds, hail and localized flash flooding. Wednesday’s storms could affect eastern Colorado, New Mexico, parts of Texas, Kansas and Nebraska, while additional storms threaten the Midwest and Southeast. By Thursday and Friday, the threat shifts east, with New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. among areas that could see disruptive storms and urban flooding. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out, though a widespread tornado outbreak is not expected. Travelers along the I-95 corridor should prepare for delays and rapidly changing conditions.
