Severe Thunderstorm Watches and Summer Heat in DC Area
The DC area is experiencing a return to full-strength summer heat, with temperatures reaching the mid-to-upper 80s and heat indices climbing close to 95°F (35°C) due to increased humidity. Severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect for Montgomery and Frederick counties in Maryland, and Loudoun County, Virginia, until 7:45 p.m. A broader severe thunderstorm watch covers the entire DC area until 10 p.m. Thursday evening storms are expected, with a 60% chance of rain. Friday will bring isolated storms between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., while the weekend is forecasted to be mostly dry with highs in the mid-80s to near 90°F (32°C).
