Heat Dome to Bring Extreme Temperatures Across U.S. This Weekend
A sprawling heat dome is set to expand across the central and western United States this weekend, bringing dangerously high temperatures to millions. According to AccuWeather, temperatures near or above 100°F (37.8°C) are expected across much of the Dakotas, with even higher values forecast for parts of California, Arizona, and the desert Southwest. The National Weather Service has issued Extreme Heat Warnings for areas like California's Coachella Valley, where temperatures could reach 120°F (48.9°C). High humidity levels will exacerbate the heat, pushing 'feels like' temperatures above 105°F (40.6°C) in many regions. Relief is expected by mid-next week as cooler air from the Great Lakes and Northeast begins to move westward.
