Florida Democratic Senate Nominee Angie Nixon's Stance on Electoral College and Voting Rules Resurfaces
Florida Democratic Senate nominee Angie Nixon's past statements advocating for the abolition of the Electoral College, support for ranked-choice voting, and same-day voter registration have resurfaced. In a March 14 clip from the Clay County Speaks podcast, Nixon stated, "Abolish the Electoral College, I’m fine with that. I believe one vote, one person. We would have a different country right now if that was the case." She also expressed support for ranked-choice voting and same-day voter registration, while rejecting non-party voters in Democratic primaries. These positions are drawing criticism from Republicans as Nixon, a democratic socialist, begins her general election campaign against Republican Senator Ashley Moody.
