Jacksonville Man Arrested for Felony Assault by Strangulation and Domestic Violence
Joshua Lanman, a Jacksonville man, has been arrested and charged with felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, and misdemeanor assault on a female. The arrest follows accusations that Lanman subjected a woman to years of abuse, including strangulation that caused her to lose consciousness and urinate on herself due to pressure on her throat. Military police officers initially responded to a domestic dispute involving Lanman and the victim at Marine Corps Air Station New River in May. The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office subsequently joined the investigation, uncovering a pattern of violence dating back several years near Sneads Ferry. Warrants detail additional assaults, such as twisting the victim's arms, biting her nose and ears, slamming her head, and smothering her with a pillow. Lanman, 24, has posted a $20,000 bond and is currently under electronic ankle monitoring.
